Project Brief

Individual donors give over $280 billion a year to causes close to their heart. But most of us do not stop and think about the impact, and only 9% devote at least 2 hours per year to do comparative research to inform their giving because measuring and understanding impact is hard.

There are many unmet needs: Access to unbiased, high-quality curated resources & benchmarks. Increased access to in-person learning opportunities and visible leaders sharing learning from impact-driven philanthropy.

That was the inspiration behind GivingCompass.org. And with a catalytic grant from the Raikes Foundation, we created a single destination for all your needs related to giving with impact, accessible from any pc, tablet or computer. Using the best of AI, machine learning, and mobile cloud computing, to serve the needs of individual donors.

Giving Compass’ vision is to aggregate the world’s information to help people to give well.

Assessment

Before launching a new technology or venture, we evaluate nine different marketing, operations, monetization and/or technology dimensions on a scale of 0 to 100 and 70% of them must be at or above 70 to move forward. Results

After a successful beta period in the summer and fall of 2017 where Shelly Cano Kurtz acted as interim CMO and Luis Salazar as interim CEO and CTO. The advisory board at Giving Compass approved the plan for 2018 as an independent organization. A seasoned CEO was hired, alongside other team members and the venture “graduated” our lab in December of 2017.
