A Way Home America (AWHA) is a national initiative created with the sole purpose of ending youth homelessness. One of the AWHA grantors is the Raikes Foundation, joined by a coalition of organizations supporting AWHA on their steering committee.
A Way Home America (AWHA) needs to develop an online mapping tool that supports inter-agency communication efforts to end youth homelessness across the country. AWHA envisions a dynamic and interactive map located on awayhomeamerica.org as a resource that promotes connectivity and momentum as providers work to build the movement to end youth homelessness.
The basic need is a map to display and organize information on youth homelessness across the US – specifically the initiatives and community efforts working to end youth homelessness – with a clear and compelling user interface that invites interacting with and exploring the information.
AWHA engaged with different firms and freelancers that chose to build technology from scratch, but after several months of failed attempts, they realized the solution was not scalable, not easy to maintain and support and too expensive for their needs.
This work was done thanks to the Raikes Foundation and Giving Tech Labs financial support.
